Rocklin, CA Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

Section 10.24.020 of the Rocklin Municipal Code authorizes the city's traffic engineer to place curb markings in paint to signal parking and standing regulations, and spells out what each color means so drivers do not need to guess. A red curb means no stopping, standing or parking at any time, except as the California Vehicle Code separately permits, and except that a bus may stop in a red zone marked or signed as a bus zone. A yellow curb bars stopping, standing or parking between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on any day except Sundays and holidays, for any purpose other than loading or unloading passengers or materials, and even then passenger loading cannot exceed three minutes nor material loading exceed 20 minutes.

A white curb, addressed later in the same section, limits stopping to loading or unloading passengers or depositing mail, capped at three minutes between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with hotels, churches and open theaters subject to the restriction at all times. A green curb caps standing or parking to whatever shorter period the posted sign specifies during the same 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. window. A blue curb reserves the space exclusively for vehicles belonging to disabled persons, with no time limit stated in the ordinance itself.

Subsection (B) makes it unlawful for any driver to stop, stand or park adjacent to a legible curb marking placed under this section in violation of the marking's restriction, so a driver's obligation attaches the moment the paint and any accompanying signage are visibly in place.
