Eden Prairie, MN Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Eden Prairie's loading zones exist only where the City Council decides, by resolution, that a commercial loading zone is justified; the City Manager then orders the zone installed and duly sign-posted under Section 8.11. Section 8.08 governs the trucks that use them. Subdivision 5 caps parking in a sign-posted loading zone, or in an alley, at twenty minutes, and only for the purpose of loading or unloading merchandise at abutting or adjacent property; alley parking cannot block the flow of traffic. Section 8.08, Subdivision 2 separately bars parking any semi-trailer, truck-tractor, or vehicle over nine thousand pounds gross vehicle weight on a street, alley, or private lot in a residential district except to load or unload.

Subdivision 3 bars the same class of truck from parking on a sign-posted business-district street, but allows up to twenty minutes there too, when access cannot reasonably be reached from an alley or an unrestricted adjacent street. Subdivision 4 forbids parking a detached semi-trailer on any street or City-owned lot outright. Outside a designated zone, Section 8.07, Subdivision 1 still caps any vehicle's continuous street parking at twenty-four hours. The Eden Prairie Police Department enforces these limits and, under Section 8.10, may order a vehicle moved into compliance or impound an unattended vehicle left in violation, with towing and storage costs billed before the vehicle is released.
