Eden Prairie, MN Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 11.44, Subdivision 3 of the Eden Prairie City Code starts from a flat prohibition: parking or storing a recreational vehicle outside an enclosed building or structure is banned in every One-Family Residential District and every Multi-Family Residential District, subject to the exceptions listed in paragraphs A through F. Section 11.02 defines Recreational Vehicle broadly enough to cover any trailer, watercraft, snowmobile, pull camper, all terrain vehicle, motorhome, travel trailer or tent trailer, or other similar vehicle, so boats and utility trailers fall under the same rule as motorhomes.

Paragraph A caps outdoor storage at two recreational vehicles per lot. Paragraph B lets a vehicle no taller than 12 feet sit in the part of a front yard occupied by a driveway, provided no part comes within 15 feet of the traveled street, or in a side or rear yard at least 10 feet from a lot line, or in a side yard within 10 feet of a lot line if that strip abuts the front yard, holds a driveway, and stays 15 feet from the street.

Paragraph C requires any vehicle stored outside more than 14 days to be owned by someone who actually lives on the lot, so a neighbor or renter cannot park a stored trailer on someone else's yard. Paragraph D requires current license or registration tags on any outdoor vehicle for which the law requires them, Paragraph E bars using a stored recreational vehicle for living, sleeping or housekeeping, and Paragraph F prohibits parking or storing one over a bikeway, pathway or sidewalk.
