Cupertino has no blanket overnight street-parking ban for standard cars, but oversized vehicles are prohibited on public streets between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. without a permit, and posted permit zones and 72-hour limits still apply overnight.
Standard passenger vehicles may generally park overnight on Cupertino streets, subject to the 72-hour maximum in CMC 11.24.130 and any posted residential permit-parking or street-sweeping signs. However, under Ordinance 25-2275 (effective October 17, 2025), CMC 11.28.020 prohibits oversized vehicles, RVs, large trailers and buses from parking on public streets overnight between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless the household holds a valid oversized-vehicle permit. Residents may obtain up to 20 such 72-hour permits per calendar year through the city permit portal. Vehicles parked on the street may not be used as living or sleeping quarters at any hour.
Oversized vehicles parked overnight without a permit are subject to citation and towing; general street citations range from about $35 to $336. Permit-zone and street-sweeping violations at night are also citable.
