Huntsville, AL Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Section 25-283 of the Huntsville Code, in the parking-meters division of the traffic chapter, makes it unlawful to park overnight and occupy a recreational vehicle, motor home, housecar, travel trailer, pickup camper, van, or other vehicle with sleeping quarters on any street of the city or in a city municipal parking facility. The ban applies citywide unless the city has specifically permitted the vehicle to remain and posted that authorization at the location. Violations are handled as parking offenses, enforced by the police department and the director of parking and public transit, and ticketed under the city's parking fine schedule; unauthorized vehicles left on a street can also be towed and impounded under the traffic code.
