Dublin's Oversized Vehicle ordinance (Municipal Code 6.04.430, Ord. 10-03) bans parking any oversized motor vehicle or nonmotorized vehicle on the street at any time, with narrow exceptions for loading, permit extensions and visitor permits. Tall vehicles also cannot park within 45 feet of an intersection.
Dublin's oversized-vehicle rules live in Municipal Code Section 6.04.430, enacted by Ordinance 10-03. An 'oversized motor vehicle' is any house car, cab-over-camper pickup, RV or other vehicle over 22 feet long, or over 84 inches wide or high; a 'nonmotorized vehicle' is any trailer or non-self-propelled device. Section 6.04.430(D) prohibits parking either type on any public street, highway or alley at any time, except: (1) in residential districts, when attached to a tow vehicle and fronting the owner's home, for up to 48 hours of loading/unloading or trip prep; (2) a 24-hour extension (72 hours total) with a Chief-of-Police permit; (3) after the window, the vehicle must stay off the street for at least 48 hours; (4) a visitor permit allowing up to five days in a 30-day period for guests living over 50 miles away; (5) up to 24 hours fronting a dealer/repair business in commercial districts; and (6) during a declared state of emergency. Separately, Section 6.04.430(E) bars any vehicle six feet or more in height (including load) from parking within 45 feet of an intersection. Violations may be cited or towed under Section 6.04.210.
Parking an oversized motor vehicle or trailer on the street outside the allowed windows violates Section 6.04.430(D); parking a 6-foot-tall vehicle within 45 feet of an intersection violates Section 6.04.430(E). Both can result in citation and/or towing under Section 6.04.210.
