Dublin's Municipal Code 6.04.430 defines and restricts commercial vehicles on city streets. Vehicles over 10,000 lbs cannot park on streets posted off-limits to trucks, cannot park 2:00-6:00 a.m. on restricted streets, and cannot stand more than two hours except for active deliveries or service.
Dublin regulates large commercial vehicles under Section 6.04.430. The code defines a 'commercial vehicle' as one with more than two axles, exceeding 20 feet in length, 84 inches or more in width, or with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more (a truck tractor is included; an ordinary pickup or SUV is not). For vehicles over 10,000 lbs GVWR: Section 6.04.430(F) bars parking on any street posted as prohibited to commercial-vehicle traffic under Section 6.88.040; Section 6.04.430(G) bars parking on restricted streets between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.; and Section 6.04.430(H) bars standing for more than two hours on any public street except for the reasonable time needed to make pickups or deliveries, perform an on-site service, or make emergency repairs. Public utility and licensed-contractor vehicles in active use are exempt. Violations may be cited or towed, or both, under Section 6.04.210. The City Engineer posts signs giving notice of permissible vehicle weights and sizes (Section 6.04.430(J)).
Parking a 10,000-lb-plus commercial vehicle on a truck-restricted street (6.04.430(F)), between 2:00-6:00 a.m. (6.04.430(G)), or standing over two hours without an active delivery/service (6.04.430(H)) can result in citation and/or towing under Section 6.04.210.
