Dublin has no blanket overnight parking ban for standard cars. Vehicles may sit up to 72 hours (DMC 6.04.430(C)) unless signs say otherwise. Specific overnight limits apply to heavy commercial vehicles (2:00-6:00 a.m., DMC 6.04.430(G)) and any posted no-parking hours.
Unlike some cities, Dublin does not impose a citywide overnight parking permit requirement for ordinary passenger vehicles. The general rule from Section 6.04.430(C) controls: a motor vehicle may remain on a public street for up to 72 consecutive hours. There is no separate ordinance prohibiting passenger cars from parking simply because it is nighttime. However, overnight rules do apply to certain vehicles and locations. Section 6.04.430(G) makes it unlawful to park a commercial vehicle exceeding a manufacturer's gross weight of 10,000 pounds on a restricted street between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. The City Council and City Manager may also post specific streets with designated no-parking hours and days under Section 6.04.260, which can include overnight windows once signs are in place. Living or sleeping overnight in an RV or similar vehicle on a public right-of-way is prohibited (Zoning Code 8.76.060(G)). Street-sweeping and posted-hour restrictions, where signed, are enforced by the Police Department, which may cite and tow.
No general overnight ban exists for cars; but heavy commercial vehicles parked on restricted streets between 2:00-6:00 a.m. violate Section 6.04.430(G), and any vehicle violating a posted overnight no-parking sign may be cited and/or towed under Sections 6.04.260 and 6.04.300.
