Beloit, WI Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

City of Beloit Code of Ordinances § 7.23(7)(d)1 limits residential-zone properties to one vehicle used for recreation purposes parked outdoors at a time, a category the ordinance defines to include boats, snowmobiles, travel trailers, cargo trailers, campers, all-terrain vehicles and motor homes. Any additional recreational vehicles beyond that first one must be stored inside an enclosed building. Regardless of how many the household owns, none of them, including the single vehicle allowed outdoors, may be parked in a required front yard or corner side yard on a residential lot.

Outside residential zones, § 7.23(7)(d)2 requires any recreational vehicle to be kept in an enclosed building unless the zoning code specifically permits outdoor parking for that use. Liability for a violation follows the person parking the vehicle, but § 7.23(7)(f) also makes the property owner liable if a tenant, the tenant's family or a household member commits the violation on the owner's premises, and makes the occupant liable if the occupant, a family member, guest or customer commits it. The rule sits alongside Beloit's separate junk-vehicle and unregistered-vehicle parking restrictions in § 7.23(7)(a)-(b), which target vehicles that are unregistered, unlicensed or inoperable rather than recreational equipment that is properly licensed and functional.
