The City of Chino Hills requires a free annual Temporary Parking Permit to park a recreational vehicle or trailer on a city street. With the permit an RV may stay a maximum of three consecutive days, up to twelve days total per calendar month, and is still subject to street sweeping and the 72-hour rule.
On-street RV parking in Chino Hills is governed by Chapter 10.12 of the city's own Municipal Code, not San Bernardino County rules. Under Municipal Code 10.12.020 the city defines recreational vehicles broadly to include camp trailers, fifth-wheel trailers, house cars, mobilehomes, boats, boat trailers, and trailers used to transport equipment or animals for recreation. Parking any of these on a public street requires an annual Temporary Parking Permit, issued free of charge by the Code Enforcement Division at City Hall, 14000 City Center Drive. The permit allows a maximum of three consecutive days, up to twelve days total per calendar month, and the RV should be parked adjacent to the address the permit was issued to whenever possible. The city states that 'City parking regulations take precedence over the annual temporary parking permit,' so a permit does not override street-sweeping no-parking hours or any other posted restriction. The city warns that an RV will be ticketed if parked on city streets on street-sweeping days, parked longer than 72 hours, or parked too close to a fire hydrant. Permits are renewed bi-annually and expire December 31 of even-numbered years. The city does not issue street permits for private (HOA-controlled) streets.
Parking an RV, boat, or trailer on a city street without a valid Temporary Parking Permit, exceeding three consecutive days or twelve days per month, parking during street sweeping, exceeding 72 hours, or parking too close to a fire hydrant is citable. Permits are obtained free from the Code Enforcement Division, second floor, City Hall (909-364-2757). Enforcement on public streets is handled by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, which provides contract policing for the city.
