Ontario limits RVs, trailers, and boats parked on public streets to 72 hours under CVC 22651(k), and private-property RV storage must generally occur in a side or rear yard screened from view under OMC zoning standards.
Under Ontario Municipal Code Chapter 9 zoning standards, recreational vehicles, boats, trailers, and utility trailers may be parked on private residential property only in side yards or rear yards, and must be set back from the front property line behind a solid gate or fence at least 6 feet tall. Front-yard RV parking is generally prohibited except for loading and unloading for up to 72 consecutive hours. On public streets, RVs are subject to California Vehicle Code 22651(k) (72-hour rule) and may be cited under OMC 10 commercial-vehicle rules if over 22 feet long. Live-in use of an RV on private property is prohibited for more than short-term guest stays, although recent state guidance under AB 1472 allows temporary habitation during a declared emergency. Driveways must be paved with concrete, asphalt, or approved pavers, and RV parking pads must drain to the street without redirecting runoff onto neighbors. Enforcement is handled by Ontario Code Enforcement at (909) 395-2025.
