Sec. 17-162 bars parking or leaving standing any "oversized vehicle" on a public street or right-of-way in a residentially zoned area for longer than four consecutive hours. Sec. 17-163 defines an oversized vehicle as any motorized or non-motorized vehicle exceeding 22 feet in length, 94 inches in width or 92 inches in height, and separately sweeps in all buses, tractors, semi-trailers, motor coaches, trailers, campers, camper-trailers, house-cars, trailer coaches and motor homes regardless of their dimensions; lifted trucks and SUVs that only exceed the height limit due to suspension or tire modifications are excluded.

Sec. 17-164 exempts vehicles making active pickups or deliveries at an adjacent property, emergency and public safety vehicles, vehicles under emergency repair for less than eight hours, and government vehicles on official business. Sec. 17-165 lets the chief of police issue a free temporary permit to a city resident for an oversized vehicle parked on the street immediately adjacent to that resident's home, capped at 72 hours per permit, no more than six permits per resident or vehicle per calendar month, and at least 48 consecutive hours between permits.

The vehicle may not be used for overnight camping, lodging, residing in or other accommodation purposes while permitted, may not obscure safety or traffic devices, and the chief of police can refuse a permit on public-safety grounds tied to the vehicle's size or the street's configuration. Sec. 17-166 requires posted signs at city limits stating the four-hour limit and permit requirement.
