Mosinee, WI Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 42-715 of the City of Mosinee zoning code sets detailed standards for storing and parking boats, travel trailers, pickup coaches, motor homes, camping trailers and similar recreational vehicles on residential and commercial property. Outdoor storage is allowed inside an enclosed structure, in the side or rear yard at least five feet from the lot line, or on a hard-surfaced or well-drained gravel driveway when yard space is not reasonably accessible; in every case the body of the unit must sit at least 15 feet back from the face of any curb, and no part may extend over a public sidewalk or right-of-way.

Storage is for the unit itself only: a recreational vehicle or boat cannot be used for dwelling purposes except for overnight sleeping capped at 14 days total in a calendar year, cooking is never permitted, and the unit cannot be permanently connected to sewer, water or electric service, though temporary electrical hookup for battery charging is allowed. The unit must be owned by the resident of the property, must be currently registered, operable and in good repair to sit outdoors, and a single-family residential lot is capped at two boats, recreational vehicles or a combination of the two stored outside at once, with up to two additional snowmobiles allowed between December 15 and March 15 if positioned behind the rear building line.

Units longer than 36 feet cannot be stored outdoors in any residential district at all except while being loaded, unloaded or prepared for use, and even then for no more than seven days in any 30-day period. On public streets, a recreational vehicle, boat or trailer may be parked only for 24 hours before and after use, or for up to seven consecutive days when hosting out-of-town visitors, and slide-outs, hoses or other attachments may never be extended over a street, sidewalk or right-of-way. None of these storage or on-street limits apply to boats and recreational vehicles in the R-5 agriculture and estate district.
