Perth Amboy, NJ Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 414-8.3 of the Perth Amboy traffic chapter was added 12-17-1985 by Ord. No. 395-85 and amended 4-13-2022 by Ord. No. 2022-2022. The 2022 amendment is where pop-up campers and boats appear in the list. The ban runs from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and applies to any street. The vehicles named are a truck or vehicle over four tons, 8,000 lbs., gross weight; a trailer; a semitrailer truck to which equipment is attached; buses; mobile homes; pop-up campers; and boats. The section speaks of streets, so its text does not address a private driveway or yard.

Other parts of the code fill in the picture for the City of Perth Amboy. Section 430-60(Z) bars a commercial vehicle of more than one (1) ton manufacturer-rated capacity from being parked on any street overnight in a residential zone or on any residential property. The same section prints a trailer standard: no trailer, auto trailer, trailer coach, travel trailer or camper can be used for dwelling purposes or as sleeping quarters. On public parking lots, § 312-13 prohibits parking a recreational vehicle, truck, tractor or trailer, school bus or vehicle moved by human or animal power in any lot the City owns, operates or maintains, and § 312-12 bars any truck with a load weight capacity of more than 1/2 ton.

In flood hazard areas, § 231-601 says recreational vehicles must be fully licensed and ready for highway use and placed on a site for less than 180 consecutive days, and placement is not authorized in coastal high hazard areas and floodways. Section 414-8.4 also bars parking a vehicle on a street for sale.
