Summary
In San Angelo residential districts, RVs, travel trailers, boats, and other vehicles may not be parked in a yard unless on an improved surface or screened behind a solidly opaque privacy fence at least six feet tall (Sec. 8.10.002).
Vehicle. Shall include but not be limited to automobiles, trucks, trailers, semi-trailers, recreational vehicles, travel trailers, boats or other watercraft, and motorcycles (not including bicycles and tricycles that are not motor-propelled).
Yard. An open, unoccupied space on the surface of a lot or tract of land, that is unobstructed from the ground to the sky.
Yard, front. All that space on the surface of a lot, located between the street right-of-way line and the apparent front line of the principal building on that lot, extending across the full width of the lot. The depth of such yard shall include the entire area between said street right-of-way line and the most remote point on an exterior wall of the apparent front face of that principal building.
Yard, rear. All that space on the surface of a lot, located between the rear line (opposite the apparent front line) of the principal building on that lot and the most proximate and nearly parallel property boundary (that being the rear boundary) on that same lot, extending across the full width of the lot. The depth of such yard shall include the entire area between said rear boundary and the most remote point on an exterior wall of the rear face of that principal building.
Yard, side. All that space on the surface of a lot, adjoining the sides of the principal building on that lot and located between the front and side yards.

San Angelo Code Article 8.10 treats parking on unimproved surfaces as a nuisance. The term vehicle expressly includes recreational vehicles, travel trailers, boats and other watercraft, trucks, and semi-trailers (Sec. 8.10.001). In any residential district, such vehicles may only be parked in a yard if they sit on an improved surface, meaning asphalt, concrete, pavers, or at least six inches of compacted gravel, caliche, or crushed rock, or are screened from public view by a solidly opaque privacy fence or wall at least six feet high (Sec. 8.10.002). Parking of trucks and truck-trailers is also prohibited in the downtown business district. HOA and deed restrictions may be stricter.
