Westminster, CO Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 10-1-12(B)(1) of the Westminster Municipal Code targets recreational vehicles directly: it is unlawful to park a trailer, boat, mobile home or motor home under 35 feet long on any public street for more than 72 hours in any seven-day period, unless the vehicle is actively being loaded or unloaded, which the code defines to include trip preparation, post-trip cleanup, or minor maintenance for RVs, and loading or unloading for boats and non-camping trailers. Subsection (B)(2) bars any vehicle 35 feet or longer from public streets entirely except for loading and unloading.

Owners cannot beat the 72-hour clock by moving a vehicle to a nearby spot: (B)(11) makes it unlawful to move and repark within 700 feet of the same location for the purpose of evading these limits. On private property, Subsection (C)(1) repeats the 35-foot ban for residential lots and private streets, and (C)(2) requires that trailers, boats, and campers parked in a front yard or side yard facing the street sit on a driveway paved with concrete, asphalt, rock, or gravel, or, if kept in a side yard, be screened behind a lawfully constructed six-foot privacy fence.

The code's definitions section, 10-1-12(A), classifies a residential district as any RE, R1, RA, R2, R3, R4 or R5 zone, plus land within 300 feet of it, which is the area where these yard-parking rules bite hardest. Violations are treated as civil parking citations under Subsection (E), carrying the same 21-day appeal process that applies to other street parking violations in this Section.
