Westminster, CO Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 10-1-12(B) of the Westminster Municipal Code lays out street parking bans that apply citywide. Subsection (B)(9) makes it unlawful to stop, stand, or park a vehicle so that it blocks a driveway entrance to abutting property, a rule enforced the same way whether the vehicle belongs to a resident or a visitor. Subsection (B)(7) separately bars parking in any manner that interferes with the free movement of traffic or street maintenance, and (B)(8) requires at least two feet of clearance between parked vehicles. The right-of-way strip between the curb and sidewalk is off-limits under (B)(10), and (B)(12) adds bike lanes, marked fire lanes, and any location where posted signs or pavement markings prohibit stopping.

Drivers cannot dodge the Section's 72-hour trailer and oversized-vehicle limits by shuffling a vehicle to a spot within 700 feet, per (B)(11). Enforcement runs through parking enforcement officers, police officers, code enforcement officers, or community services staff, who may place a citation on the windshield, hand it to the driver, or mail it to the registered owner. Every citation must list the code section violated, the penalty amount, payment deadlines, and the appeal procedure. Fines for these violations are set separately by City Council resolution rather than fixed in the ordinance itself, and Subsection (E) classifies all such citations as civil parking violations rather than criminal offenses.
