Lubbock Code of Ordinances Chapter 26 (Traffic and Vehicles) governs street parking. Parking is generally allowed on residential streets unless signed otherwise, with a 24-hour maximum before the vehicle is considered stored.
Chapter 26, Article V of the Lubbock Code prohibits parking in marked no-parking zones, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, within 20 feet of a crosswalk, and within 30 feet of a stop sign, consistent with Texas Transportation Code Section 545.302. Overnight parking on residential streets is permitted, but leaving a vehicle in the same spot for more than 24 hours triggers a possible tag as a stored vehicle. Downtown Lubbock and the Depot District use metered and time-limited parking enforced by the Parking Services Division. Near Texas Tech University, permit-only zones on 19th Street and University Avenue are enforced weekdays 7 AM to 5 PM.
Expired meter: 15 dollars. No-parking zone: 35 dollars. Blocking hydrant: 75 dollars. Stored vehicle tag: tow after 72 hours.
