Tuscaloosa Code Sec. 22-75 requires curb-side vehicles to park within 18 inches of the right-hand curb, and Sec. 22-78 bans stopping or parking on sidewalks, crosswalks, within 15 feet of an intersection or fire hydrant, and within 30 feet of a stop sign or signal.
On-street parking is regulated by Article IV of Chapter 22. Section 22-75 requires that every vehicle stopped or parked on a roadway with adjacent curbs be parked with its right-hand wheels parallel to and within eighteen (18) inches of the right-hand curb; on a one-way residential roadway (other than a through street), left-curb parking within 18 inches is also allowed. Section 22-78 makes it unlawful to stop, stand, or park (except to avoid traffic or obey an officer or control device) on a sidewalk, in front of a public or private driveway, within 15 feet of an intersection, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, on a crosswalk, within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, or within 30 feet of a flashing beacon, stop sign, or traffic-control signal. Section 22-79 bars parking that leaves less than 15 feet of roadway width or hinders traffic. The city adopts the Alabama Rules of the Road by reference (Sec. 22-2), so statewide stopping/standing rules in Code of Ala. Title 32, Chapter 5, Article 7 also apply.
Street-parking violations are municipal offenses punishable under Sec. 1-8 of the City Code. Officers may issue parking citations (payable through the city's online portal), and under Sec. 22-10 a vehicle parked unlawfully or left over 24 hours continuously may be towed and impounded with a $30.00 removal fee and $5.00/day storage.
