Beaumont, CA Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Chapter 10.38 of the Beaumont Municipal Code, adopted under Ord. 953 on 9-1-09, defines a skateboard as any board with wheels attached that can be used for movement or propulsion, and roller skates to include in-line skates known as roller blades. Under § 10.38.020 the City Council designates areas by resolution, and each area must be posted with official signs meeting Beaumont Police Department specifications. The signs must state that skating is permitted only on specified days and hours, that a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads are required, that no skating is allowed between sunset and sunrise unless the area is adequately lighted, that users cannot impair hearing, vision or mental faculties with headphones, a mask, a hood, drugs or alcohol, that users skate at their own risk, and that debris left behind results in revocation of the privilege.

Section 10.38.030 bans skating on private property where the owner, manager or person in charge has prohibited it, but only after official signs give notice in enough places to be seen, and property owned by other public agencies in Beaumont counts as private property for this rule. Section 10.38.040 makes it a nuisance to skate in a designated area in a way that violates the posted rules, obstructs or endangers pedestrians or motorists, or generates loud or unreasonable noise, and its list also covers installing or placing any ramp or rails in the public right-of-way or street.

Under § 10.38.050, parents and guardians cannot authorize or knowingly permit a child or ward to violate the chapter. Chapter 10.35 (Ord. No. 1193, 11-4-2025) separately requires a helmet for all ages on skateboards, in-line skates and roller skates in any public area.
