Skateboarding is prohibited on private commercial property without permission and in posted public areas. Moorpark provides a dedicated skate park at Arroyo Vista Community Park.
Moorpark Municipal Code Title 10 vehicle and Title 12 public-property provisions allow the city to post no-skateboarding zones on commercial walkways, public stairs, and handrails where damage or pedestrian conflicts occur. California Vehicle Code section 21968 also restricts skateboards on freeways. Helmets are required for riders under 18 under California Health and Safety Code section 115110. The Arroyo Vista skate park provides a sanctioned location. Trick skating that damages property may trigger vandalism charges in addition to skateboarding citations.
Skateboarding in posted areas typically results in warnings or infraction citations. Property damage from grinding rails or stairs may add misdemeanor vandalism charges.
