The sign ordinance does not name garage sales specifically; a yard-sale or estate-sale sign is regulated as an 'Other Temporary Sign' under Section 11-1203.6(2), the same catch-all category covering real estate and open-house signs. No permit or fee is required under subsection (a), but every other provision of the sign ordinance still applies. Placement is limited by subsection (b): the sign must be set back at least one foot from a public sidewalk, or 18 feet from the edge of the street pavement where there is no sidewalk, and it can never sit within the public right-of-way or within ten feet of another property line, which rules out planting a sign at the curb or on a neighbor's lawn.

Subsection (c) sets the clock for removal: the sign has to come down within ten days after the sale ends, regardless of how long the sale itself ran. Subsection (d) caps the size at eight square feet in a residential district, 32 square feet elsewhere, and limits the property to one temporary sign per street frontage, so a household cannot post one sign on each side of a corner lot for the same sale. If the sign is left up past its ten-day removal window or oversized, Section 11-1203.6(2)(f) lets the Director take it down without advance notice, since it is a temporary sign rather than a permanent one subject to the 20-day notice-and-appeal process in Section 11-1203.4(3).
