Eagle Mountain, UT Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

EMMC 17.80.100 sets placement and size standards for signage advertising yard sales, garage sales and moving sales, separate from the section's two-day duration cap. Subsection A limits sign copy to four square feet, a much smaller allowance than the eight-foot-tall, 32-square-foot signs the code permits for real estate or political uses elsewhere in the same chapter.

Subsection B ties location to registration: a sign must sit on private property unless the sale has been registered with the city ahead of time for temporary right-of-way signage. Even with registration, placement on major streets classified as arterials or major collectors is restricted: the sign cannot go in the park strip between the street and the sidewalk or trail, though it may sit between the sidewalk and the property line or a fence. On local, non-arterial roads, the park strip is open to garage sale signage. Wherever it sits, a sign cannot be attached to a traffic control device, street sign, utility pole, light pole, fence or tree. Subsection D requires the underlying sale to be registered with the city before any signage may appear in the public right-of-way, and any right-of-way sign that was never registered is subject to immediate removal by city staff without further notice.
