Ramapo, NY Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Section 199-10, the restrictions binding every licensed peddler or solicitor in unincorporated Ramapo, bars soliciting a private residence that has posted a sign reading "no peddling or soliciting" or words of similar intent, and bars staying on the premises once the owner or occupant asks the person to leave (§ 199-10B and L). to 30 minutes after sunset, a limit the Town Board amended in Local Law No. 1-2021 (§ 199-10K). Other restrictions in the same list bar deceptive or high-pressure sales tactics, unclean vending vehicles or spoiled food, stopping on a crosswalk, using noisy devices to draw attention (with an exception for ice cream vendors' bells), transferring a license, and failing to carry or exhibit the license on demand to police, a Town officer or a customer.

A solicitor who ignores a posted sign or an eviction request, or who works outside the permitted hours, is violating the Peddler and Solicitor Law regardless of whether the license itself remains valid. The Town Clerk maintains the license roll under § 199-15 and can revoke a license for any chapter violation after notice and a hearing under § 199-13.
