Full Breakdown
Sec. 20-7(c) carves neighborhood block parties out of the full special event permitting process required for other gatherings under Chapter 20. A resident or organizer who wants to hold a block party may ask the town administrator's designee for a temporary street closing, but is not required to obtain a special event permit or pay its fee. The only condition is that the event sponsor or operator notify the town at least 30 days before the event's proposed date.
Violations & Fines
Holding a block party street closing without giving the required 30-day notice risks the town declining the closing request or treating the event as an unpermitted special event.
