South Fulton, GA Special Events & Permits: Street Fair Rules (2026)

Sec. 17-9006 governs vendors at any permitted special event, which includes street fairs and festivals under the Chapter 9 definition. The sale of food and merchandise is allowed as a component of the event only if each vendor is authorized in writing by the event's producer and agrees to whatever conditions the producer imposes and submits with the permit application. The producer bears sole responsibility and control over all food and merchandise vendors, including designating where they operate, and vendors authorized by the producer do not need to obtain a separate city vendor permit, though food vendors must still comply with County Health Department rules on food preparation and service.

Sec. 17-9007 separately covers alcohol vendors, who must be licensed by both the state and the city in addition to producer authorization. Sec. 17-9008 adds enforcement teeth: every authorized vendor must display a badge the producer provides bearing the producer's signature, and it is unlawful for an unauthorized vendor to conduct business within 100 yards of the event from one hour before it starts until one hour after it ends. When a permit closes streets for the fair, the producer is responsible for making sure vendors remove structures, trash and debris from the closed area by the time set in the permit for reopening the streets, and the community development director reviews the fair's location against zoning and parking requirements before a permit issues under Sec. 17-9002(c).
