Each single-family residential account in Elk Grove receives two complimentary bulk/junk pickups per calendar year through Republic Services. Up to 4 cubic yards or a specified item count per pickup. Accepted items: couches, chairs, mattresses (wrapped in plastic), dressers, refrigerators (with Freon certification), water heaters, BBQs, and general bulky items. Not accepted: construction debris, hazardous waste, electronics (e-waste), tires, and liquids. Residents must call Republic Services at least 48 hours in advance to schedule. Additional pickups available for a fee. Household hazardous waste and e-waste accepted free at the Kiefer Landfill or North Area Recovery Station.
