Folsom residents receive bulky item pickups from Republic Services by appointment. Large items such as furniture, mattresses, and appliances are not accepted in standard carts. Hazardous waste must go to the Sacramento County Household Hazardous Waste facility; it cannot be placed curbside.
Republic Services provides on-call bulky item collection for Folsom residential customers, typically with a set number of included pickups per year and additional pickups for a fee. Accepted bulky items include furniture, mattresses/box springs (which are recycled through the Mattress Recycling Council's Bye Bye Mattress program), water heaters, and appliances (freon-containing items may require an extra fee). Construction and demolition debris, tires, hazardous waste (paint, solvents, batteries, fluorescent tubes), and e-waste are NOT accepted curbside. E-waste and HHW must be taken to the Sacramento County North Area Recovery Station (NARS) or Kiefer Landfill HHW site. Illegal dumping on public or private property is prohibited under FMC Β§8.10 and Penal Code Β§374.3, punishable by fines up to $10,000.
Illegal dumping: citation up to $3,000 for first offense, up to $10,000 for repeat offenses (Penal Code Β§374.3). Civil cost-recovery for cleanup also applies.
