Milton, WI Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Section 62-5 of the Milton Code of Ordinances defines residential bulk items to include furniture, mattresses, boards, fences, windows, other backyard junk piles not ordinarily accepted during regular trash pickup, and swing sets, or generally anything longer than four feet and weighing more than 50 pounds. The city reserves the right to amend that list at any time based on state or federal law changes or local collection issues. Bulk items are handled outside the regular weekly cart pickup: Section 62-6(c) puts the public works committee in charge of establishing and publishing guidelines covering schedule, frequency and method of collection, drop-off site use and availability, and which items are acceptable or not beyond what the ordinance itself lists.

Chapter 62 traces to Ordinance No. 08. 00 for each violation, on top of the enforcement authority the same section gives the Department of Public Works and the police department to issue citations and inspect collection sites, vehicles and records for compliance.
