Milton, WI Trash & Recycling: Illegal Dumping (2026)

Section 50-152 of the Milton Code of Ordinances makes it unlawful to throw, dump, drop off, or otherwise cause refuse, including glass, rubbish, waste, filth, dirt, gravel or mud, to be deposited on city streets, alleys, highways, public parks or other city property, on private property you do not own, or on the surface of any body of water within the City of Milton. 04(2) and is cross-referenced to the separate solid waste chapter, Chapter 62, which governs how residents are supposed to set out garbage instead of dumping it.

Because Section 50-152 itself does not fix a dollar penalty, a violation falls under the Code's general penalty provision, Section 1-14. 00 for a repeat conviction of the same ordinance. Anyone who does not pay can be jailed in the county jail until the forfeiture and costs are satisfied, up to 90 days for a first offense and up to six months for a second. 095(1)(a) if a related judgment is not paid within 60 days. Because Milton is the incorporated city and not the adjoining Town of Milton, this ordinance applies only inside the city's corporate limits; unincorporated land nearby falls under separate Rock County and town rules.
