Each San Clemente resident may schedule a free bulky-item pickup from CR&R up to four times per calendar year, of up to four large items or bags each time. Free door-to-door household hazardous waste pickup is also available.
Per the City's Trash & Recycling page, each San Clemente resident customer can arrange a bulky-item pickup free of charge four times per calendar year, of up to four large items or four bags of material each time, scheduled through CR&R's online service; additional pickups are available for a small fee. The City also offers free door-to-door household hazardous waste (HHW) pickup through CR&R (877-728-0446). SCMC 8.28.021 exempts bulky items from the container requirement but makes it unlawful to leave bulky items on any street, alley, sidewalk, or the visible portion of a property except when placed for a scheduled collection at the location and time authorized in SCMC 8.28.040.
Leaving bulky items out other than for a scheduled collection is unlawful under SCMC 8.28.021 and enforced under SCMC 8.28.210(C) at $50, $75, then $100. Items abandoned outside the collection window may be treated as illegal dumping.
