South Jordan, UT Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

South Jordan offers residents two primary options for bulk waste disposal. First, scheduled neighborhood cleanup events occur in spring and fall, rotating by area of the city. During these events, residents may set out large items (furniture, appliances without refrigerant, yard debris in piles) curbside on a posted day, and the city's contractor collects them at no additional charge. Second, on-call bulk pickup is available year-round through the contracted hauler for a per-item or per-load fee; residents schedule online or by phone at least 48 hours in advance. Accepted bulk items include furniture, mattresses, non-freon appliances, small amounts of construction debris (up to approximately 1 cubic yard), and bundled yard waste. NOT accepted: refrigerators/freezers without proof of Freon removal, tires, electronics/e-waste, paint and chemicals, batteries, propane tanks, and commercial-volume debris. Items must be placed at the curb no earlier than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup and must not block the sidewalk. Bulk loads limited to roughly 4 cubic yards per event. For larger cleanouts, residents use Salt Lake County's Trans-Jordan Landfill or rent a roll-off dumpster (requires an encroachment permit if placed in the right-of-way).
