Sandy, UT Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Sandy City Code section 19-4-11 governs the City's Bulk Waste Clean-up Program, noticed on the City's website and by postcard at least 30 days before each event. Acceptable waste includes bulky waste as defined in section 19-1-2 and green organics such as waste wood, tree trimmings, grass cuttings, dead plants, leaves, and bushes; unacceptable waste includes hazardous materials, commercial and industrial refuse, rocks and concrete, boats, glass, construction debris, and vehicle parts. on that date. Piles must be neat stacks, kept at least five feet from any fixed object or garbage and recycling container, capped at a total compacted volume of 20 cubic yards per collection, and green organic waste must be bagged or boxed and cut to under four feet in length and 18 inches in diameter.

Additional placement rules bar waste from a park strip, against a fence, on a utility box or storm drain grate, or within three feet of a fire hydrant, and no vehicle may park within 15 feet of a pile. A landscaper or contractor working on a home may not place debris from that job in the street for bulk pickup and must haul it away themselves, and hauling waste to another address for pickup is treated as illegal dumping.
