Vineland, NJ Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

City Code § 620-1 defines bulky waste as large items requiring special handling, such as white goods, furniture and mattresses, while excluding tree trunks, auto parts and construction and demolition debris. For white goods specifically, refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers, water heaters, air conditioners, trash compactors, freezers and dehumidifiers, § 620-11.B(1) requires the resident to schedule pickup with the Division of Solid Waste and Recycling before placing the item at curbside, and it cannot go out more than 24 hours before that scheduled pickup; refrigerators must have their doors removed before placement.

Section 620-11.B(2) requires white goods to be set out separated from other curbside waste and not piled on top of each other. Section 620-11.B(3) requires any seller of new or used white goods to take back the customer's old unit being replaced, and to post a conspicuous sign stating, in the code's own words, that under Ordinance No. 90-55 the establishment is required to accept and dispose of used white goods replaced by purchases from that establishment. Tires get a parallel but separate rule under § 620-11.C: they go out only on designated intermittent collection days, limited to 18 tires per dwelling unit per year, and any tire seller must likewise take back the customer's old tires with matching signage.
