Mount Prospect, IL Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Section 19.202.A of the Mount Prospect Village Code covers residential consumers. Subsection A.1 says all solid waste collection for residential dwellings must be made, in every instance, by the exclusive residential franchisee under the current solid waste contract. A homeowner cannot hire a different hauler for a house or unit inside the corporate limits. Subsection A.2 goes further: every residential dwelling unit is billed for the service and is required to use it, so opting out is not available. Subsection A.3 sets the schedule: collection is performed at least once each seven days unless a legal holiday interrupts it. Section 19.203.A.1 confirms the weekly rhythm from the hauler side by requiring the franchisee to remove solid waste in regular weekly collections.

The code prints the individual dwelling unit fee as $301.50 for 2026 and $312.05 for 2027 and thereafter. Statements are due and payable to the Village finance department on or before the twenty first day after the date of the statement, and late charges follow appendix A, division II of the code. Payment made sixty days or more after the due date triggers a deposit equal to two months of service. The person to whom the last general tax bill on the property was sent is presumed responsible for the bill.

Section 19.201.D applies the article to tenant-occupied and owner-occupied property alike, and an agreement between a property owner and a tenant about who pays does not bind the Village. Under § 19.201.B the village manager can publish additional rules in the booklet titled "Solid Waste Services," which the Village hands out without charge.
