Tamarac, FL Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Tamarac Code § 19-26(a) makes trash collection compulsory, not optional, for every residential service unit in the City of Tamarac, including single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes, townhouses and multi-family buildings served by carts rather than dumpsters. Owners must use the hauler selected under the city's solid waste franchise agreement, and the owner, not the tenant, is financially responsible for the bill. The franchise guarantees a floor, not a ceiling: § 19-26(a) sets a minimum of two pickups per week, and § 19-26(c) lets the city order an increase in pickup frequency or container size whenever the volume generated becomes a detriment to health, safety or welfare, at the owner's expense.

Commercial service units carry the identical two-pickup floor under § 19-26(b) whenever their waste stream includes solid waste as defined in the chapter. The same subsection also lets the city order a special collection when waste, recovered materials or construction debris is set out at curbside earlier than 7:00 p.m. the evening before the scheduled day, since early placement defeats the twice-weekly schedule by leaving material exposed longer than the code allows. The franchise agreement itself, filed with the city clerk under § 19-26(e), spells out routes, days and the hauler's exclusive right to service every present and future address in city limits, so a resident cannot contract with a competing hauler even for a lower-frequency plan.
