Bensalem, PA Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

Sec. 107-5.5(d) of the Bensalem Township Code puts the burden of holiday rescheduling on the collector, not the resident. The collector must first establish and record a regular collection schedule, and whenever a scheduled collection day falls on a holiday, the collector must notify all customers of when collection will actually be made, rather than simply skipping the affected route without notice. This sits inside the broader collection-standards section, Sec. 107-5.5, which also requires the collector to keep vehicles enclosed or covered to prevent spillage under subsection (e), clean trucks often enough to avoid nuisance or insect breeding under subsection (f), and pick up from every street in the municipality, including streets temporarily closed for repairs, designating special collection points where a closed street blocks the collector's truck under subsection (g)(3).

Sec. 107-5.5(h) adds that the collector must cooperate with up to four Township-wide special cleanup drives a year on its scheduled routes, and must provide a separate special collection, on request, for abandoned Christmas trees, a holiday-adjacent pickup obligation distinct from the day-shift notice rule in subsection (d). Because the notice duty in subsection (d) runs to the collector rather than the Township itself, residents who miss a holiday notice should contact their authorized contracted collector, or the municipality's solid waste coordinator under Sec. 107-5, if a rescheduled pickup does not arrive as announced.
