Bulloch County, GA Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

Bulloch County Code § 8-65(b), part of the Clean Community Regulations' collection practices section, states plainly that collections are not made on four holidays: New Year's Day, the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. The only exception is if the environmental manager specifies a different arrangement for a particular year, which the position has authority to do under the broader route- and schedule-setting power in § 8-53. The code does not spell out a shift-to-the-next-day rule, so residents in the unincorporated county should watch for the environmental manager's posted notice of that year's adjusted pickup rather than assume an automatic one-day slip.

The same section covers other collection practices that interact with the holiday pause: bulk containers must stay clean and in good repair or service can be discontinued, industrial waste stays the responsibility of the business that generates it, and hazardous refuse, building materials, lawn care waste and most commercial waste are barred from county collection points and must go to an approved landfill or transfer station instead. Because those categories are handled outside the routine residential pickup, the holiday pause under subsection (b) affects mainly the standard household garbage and recycling routes run by or for the county in the unincorporated area.
