Bulloch County, GA Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Bulloch County treats yard debris as separate from ordinary household garbage. Code § 8-57(g) says no yard trash may be placed in a receptacle used for garbage collection, and the county will not collect it from a garbage container; it only goes out in containers specifically designated for yard trash. Chapter 8's definitions section describes yard trash as tree branches, limbs, parts of trees, bushes, shrubbery, cuttings or clippings and similar material. Section 8-65(g) goes further for waste generated by lawn care or landscaping businesses: the county is not responsible for collecting or disposing of that waste at all, whether it comes from residential, commercial or government property.

The lawn care or landscaping business, or the property owner, must remove it themselves, and it cannot be dropped at county collection centers such as recycling centers or open container sites. Instead it has to be transported to an approved landfill or transfer station for disposal. Read together, the two sections mean a homeowner's own bagged clippings can go out only in a properly designated yard trash container while a contractor's landscaping debris is excluded from the county system entirely and becomes the contractor's disposal responsibility.
