Baytown contracts with Republic Services for residential curbside solid waste collection. Each single-family residence receives one 96-gallon trash cart and one 96-gallon recycling cart. Trash is collected weekly on assigned days that vary by neighborhood. Recycling is also collected weekly. Carts must be placed at the curb by 7:00 AM on collection day with the lid opening facing the street. Carts should be at least 3 feet apart and 3 feet from mailboxes, vehicles, and other obstructions. All trash must be bagged and placed inside the cart with the lid closed. Items protruding from the cart or placed outside it may not be collected. Yard waste is collected separately and must be placed in biodegradable bags or bundled in lengths no longer than 4 feet. Brush piles should not exceed 4 feet by 4 feet by 6 feet. Republic Services provides a bulky item pickup service for large items by appointment. Residents can request additional carts for an extra monthly fee. Holiday collection schedules are posted on the city website. Contact Republic Services at the number on your utility bill or the city Solid Waste Division for service questions.
Placing trash outside the cart, failing to bag waste, or leaving carts at the curb beyond the allowed time are code violations. Contaminated recycling carts may not be collected. Excessive yard waste piles exceeding size limits may be left behind. Repeat placement violations may result in code enforcement citations.
