The Coral Gables Solid Waste Division provides residential garbage pickup twice per week from the backyard and curbside trash collection (yard debris and small household items) once per week. Garbage must be securely bagged in up to two 30-gallon cans per residence. Individual bags cannot exceed 50 pounds. Glass must be secured to prevent bag breakage. Cat litter requires double-bagging. Construction debris, paints, and household chemicals are prohibited from regular garbage. Yard debris can be placed in the swale/trash pit anytime before collection day. Household items and plastic bags containing organic matter may only be placed out after 6:00 PM the night before collection. Up to 1 cubic yard of trash is collected at no charge; excess costs $15 per cubic yard. Cardboard is prohibited in trash pits and must go in recycling β violations result in fines up to $500.
