Miami Beach provides twice-weekly residential garbage collection through Waste Connections of Florida. Trash is collected from the rear or side yard of single-family homes. Garbage must be placed in approved containers with lids. Chapter 90 of the city code governs solid waste collection and disposal.
Waste Connections of Florida provides residential garbage pickup twice per week in Miami Beach under contract with the city. For single-family homes, trash is collected from the back or side yard β not the curb. Garbage must be in city-approved containers with secure lids weighing no more than 50 pounds when full. Yard trash is collected separately and must be placed at the curb no more than 24 hours before the scheduled 7:00 AM pickup. Yard waste must be in bags, cans, or tied bundles not exceeding 4 feet in length with limbs no larger than 4 inches in diameter. Chapter 90 of the Miami Beach Code governs solid waste operations. Multifamily buildings (3+ units) must use commercial dumpster service. The Sanitation Division can be reached at (305) 673-7616.
Placing garbage out more than 24 hours before pickup, using unapproved containers, or failing to secure lids may result in code violations. Illegal dumping carries fines up to $500 per occurrence. Contaminating recycling bins with non-recyclable materials may result in service refusal. Contact Sanitation at (305) 673-7616.
