Miami Beach requires single-family residents to keep garbage containers in the rear or side yard, not visible from the street. Yard waste and bulk items may be placed at the curb no more than 24 hours before scheduled pickup. Containers must be returned to storage after collection.
Under Chapter 90 of the Miami Beach Code, garbage containers for single-family residences must be stored out of public view in the rear or side yard. Containers should not be placed at the curb for regular garbage collection β the hauler collects from the back/side yard. Yard trash may be placed at the curb no more than 24 hours prior to the scheduled 7:00 AM pickup time. Recycling bins should be placed at the curb by 7:00 AM on collection day and returned to storage after pickup. For multifamily properties (3+ units), commercial dumpsters must be placed in approved enclosures screened from public view per zoning requirements. Containers left in public view or at the curb outside collection windows are subject to code enforcement action. Contact Sanitation at (305) 673-7616.
Leaving containers at the curb outside collection windows or visible from the street on non-collection days is a code violation. Fines may be assessed after warning. Dumpster enclosures not meeting screening requirements face zoning violations. Code Compliance can be reached at (305) 673-7555.
