Doral, FL Trash & Recycling: Bin Placement Rules (2026)

Section 32-68 of the Doral Code of Ordinances governs where garbage cans, trash containers and dumpsters can sit on a property. Subsection (1) requires that every can, container or dumpster be completely screened from adjacent properties and the public right-of-way using walls or fences plus landscaping material, subject to standards the city manager or a designee sets. The screened area cannot extend into a front yard, and on a corner lot it cannot extend into a side yard that faces a street; it must stay accessible to both city and private waste collectors, and the code specifically bars locations that force a collector to climb stairs or navigate split elevations, calling that setup a health hazard subject to penalty.

Single-family residences are exempt from the screening requirement itself. on the designated pickup day. Subsection (3) makes the property owner, operator, agent, lessee or manager, together with the private waste contractor, responsible for returning cans, containers or dumpsters to their approved location after each collection. Old industrial lots with physical limitations may seek a case-by-case exemption but must otherwise comply to the extent possible, and properties noncompliant when the ordinance passed were given six months to conform before enforcement began.
