Doral, FL Trash & Recycling: Recycling Requirements (2026)

Section 32-100 defines a multifamily residential establishment as any building or buildings designed, constructed and licensed for four or more family dwelling units within one of the city's multifamily residential zoning districts, excluding grouped townhomes that already receive individual recycling service from Miami-Dade County. Section 32-101(a) requires every such establishment, as of July 1, 2015, to provide a recycling program under this section or a modified program the public works director approves under Section 32-104, and it puts liability for a missing program on the recycling customer, defined in Section 32-100 as the property owner or, for a condominium or cooperative, the unit owners' association.

Subsection (b) sets the required materials list: a single-stream process separating newspaper (including glossy inserts), glass food and beverage containers of clear, green or amber color, ferrous and nonferrous metal food and beverage containers, other metal containers such as paint and aerosol cans, and HDPE or PET plastic bottles, jugs, jars, tubs and similar containers, all rinsed clean of residue. Subsection (c) requires the building to use a recycling contractor licensed by both the city and the state, and subsection (d) requires a designated collection location that is screened from adjacent properties and the right-of-way, kept out of front yards and street-facing corner-lot side yards, and positioned so collectors are not forced to use stairs or navigate split elevations.
