Homestead provides curbside trash collection twice weekly and recycling collection once weekly for residential properties. Bins must be placed at the curb by collection time and retrieved afterward. Yard waste is collected separately. The city contracts with a waste hauler for residential collection services.
Homestead provides residential curbside trash collection twice per week and single-stream recycling collection once per week. Trash bins should be placed at the curb the evening before or by 6:00 AM on collection day. Bins must be retrieved by the end of the collection day. Yard waste (branches, clippings, palm fronds) is collected separately and should be bundled or placed in biodegradable bags at the curb. Yard waste bundles should not exceed 4 feet in length and 50 pounds. The city provides standard trash and recycling bins; residents can request additional or replacement bins from Public Works. Holiday collection schedules may shift pickup days. Excessive trash beyond what fits in the bin should be placed in bags next to the bin. Commercial properties arrange their own waste collection through private haulers. The city's solid waste services are funded through utility billing. Recycling contamination (non-recyclable items in the recycling bin) can result in the load being treated as trash.
Bins left at curb past collection day face warnings and fines. Improper waste placement carries fines of $25 to $100. Contact Public Works for collection schedule information.
