Burrtec Waste Industries is the exclusive residential franchise hauler in Fontana. Weekly service includes trash, recycling, and organics carts collected on the same day, per route schedule.
Under Fontana Municipal Code Chapter 8, Burrtec Waste Industries holds the exclusive franchise for residential solid waste, recycling, and organic waste collection. Every occupied residential unit must subscribe to and pay for service. Homes receive three wheeled carts: a black or gray cart for trash, a blue cart for mixed recyclables, and a green cart for organic waste including food scraps and yard trimmings, in line with SB 1383 state mandates. Collection occurs weekly on a day assigned by route; carts must be set out by 6:00 a.m. on collection day and removed from the curb by the end of the day. Scavenging from carts is prohibited. Multi-family complexes and commercial generators are served through bin or container contracts with the same franchise hauler. Rates are set by the City Council and adjusted annually.
