Weston, FL Trash & Recycling: Recycling Rules (2026)

Weston Code of Ordinances § 110.03(A)(1) governs how Recycling Carts must be handled at single-family and curbside residential properties. Recyclable material must go inside a City-provided Recycling Cart placed curbside on the scheduled collection day, and no material may be left loose on the ground outside the cart. The cart must sit at least three feet away from any other object, including Solid Waste Carts, trees, mailboxes, parked cars or utility lines. When not set out for collection, the Recycling Cart, or any other recycling receptacle the City Manager has approved, must be shielded from visibility from the adjacent street and from any abutting residence's view, using landscaping, screening, or placement inside an enclosed garage or structure.

Carts cannot be put out before 6:00 p.m. on the day before collection and must be stored again by 8:00 p.m. on the day of collection, one hour earlier than the 9:00 p.m. deadline that applies to garbage carts under § 110.02(A)(2). The collection itself, including delivery of the material to a legally permitted recycling facility, is performed by the City's Contractor under § 110.03(A)(3).
