Weston, FL Trash & Recycling: Recycling Requirements (2026)

Weston Code of Ordinances § 110.03(A)(4) lists what the City accepts in Recycling Carts: rinsed aluminum cans without food waste, flattened cardboard from non-food shipping boxes, rinsed milk and juice cartons and drink boxes, glass jars or bottles rinsed with lids removed (broken glass excluded), assorted clean paper products, and plastics numbered 1 through 7 such as soda, milk, water, detergent and shampoo bottles that are clean and dry. Section 110.03(A)(5) excludes plastic bags and plastic wrap, grease-stained pizza boxes and food cartons, wax-coated to-go containers and cups, rechargeable batteries, certain glass like window or auto glass and light bulbs, scrap metal and utensils, paint, pesticides, electronic waste, medical waste and hazardous materials.

Owners of multi-family residential properties must implement an on-site recycling program under § 110.03(B)(1) covering those accepted materials in conjunction with the City's Contractor, and every living unit must have access to a suitable Recycling Cart under § 110.03(B)(2), with collection at least once a week. Commercial property owners are only encouraged, not required, to maintain an on-site program under § 110.03(B)(3). Any commercial recycling container or cart, per § 110.03(C), must be permanently labeled 'FOR RECYCLING ONLY, NO TRASH.'
