Casper, WY Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Section 8.32.110(A) governs the city's designated branch collection program: tree limbs, branches and wood set out for pickup must be cut into lengths of no more than five feet, securely tied with rope, twine or tape, and weigh no more than 50 pounds per bundle. Loose branches that do not meet these bundling rules are not eligible for the branch collection route. Subsection B redirects bulkier organic material away from curbside pickup entirely: yard waste, sod, topsoil, and cow and horse manure must be dropped off in the designated compost area at the Casper Regional Solid Waste Facility rather than placed at the curb.

Subsection C puts the responsibility for hauling sod to that facility squarely on the property owner. Section 8.32.010(J) narrows what actually counts as yard waste for these purposes: grass clippings, leaves, shrubbery cuttings and tree limbs qualify, but tumbleweeds, cactus, sagebrush and noxious weeds defined under § 8.44.005(A) do not, so those materials cannot be routed through the branch or compost programs and must be handled separately. The chapter's general fee authority in § 8.32.070 and violation clause in § 8.32.200 apply to yard waste handling the same as any other solid waste service.
